We love checking out your social media links because they often give us better insight into your real personality and style, more-so than advertising samples and test questions can. If you don't have anything to share don't worry about it, but if you do then drop the links below.
THE ASSIGNMENTS
#1 – Brand mashup
*
One of the most innovative and successful marketing stories in recent history was the Doritos Locos Taco from Taco Bell. Read all about how it came to be here: https://www.fastcompany.com/3008346/deep-inside-taco-bells-doritos-locos-taco Now, it's your turn. Take two existing brands that have never been paired up before and combine them to create an entirely new product offering that would be appealing to people. Give it a name, write up your rationale for why these two brands belong together, who you think the targets for this new product would be, and describe how/where this new product could generate buzz.
#2 – Breaking down the game tape
Ok, now we want to see you break down the creative process from a fundamental standpoint. If you don't know these terms, that's ok – this is why you're coming to DAD – we've provided you some hints. Watch the following commercial and answer these three questions with a simple sentence, don't overthink it. There are no wrong answers here, just tell us your interpretations. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=owGykVbfgUE
What is the insight?

*
Who is the specific target audience?
*
#3 – Who is the person/group/brand that's driving culture right now for your generation? Why?
*
#4 – What can you talk about for hours that most people cannot?
*
#5 – Of the last century, which is your favorite decade? Explain.
*
#6 – What is the worst decision you've ever made?
*
#7 – What's an ad or commercial from your childhood that you still remember?
*
#8 – What's your favorite desert?
*
#9 – What's your favorite curse word?
*
#10 – Go deck yourself
We wanna see some in-depth research on a very specific target – you. Before we start creating an advertising campaign, we have to understand our target or demographic. So, pretend you are our target and put together a simple 8-12 page presentation deck that walks us through all the research, data, and unique qualities that make you interesting, curious, culturally aware, eclectic, and more. Here are some starter thoughts– What do you love to do in your free time? What inspires you? What do your friends think you're the best at? What subcultures are you aware of/do you participate in? Where do you love to shop and why? What are your favorite bands, books, magazines, comedians, shows, or movies? What websites/apps are you checking multiple times a day? Where have you lived and/or traveled? Package up your deck in a PDF, label it with your first and last name, and then upload it to WeTransfer and give us your download link in the box below: www.wetransfer.com
